I really enjoyed this story, it made me giddy! Unfortunately it's only 11 chapters which just isn't long enough but that's this manga's biggest fault!
Aoi Ageha is an energetic and enthusiastic girl who loves tennis. When she was younger she saw a boy named Takera-Kun play an amazing game of tennis in Tokyo against an adult, she vowed that one day she would also play tennis like him.
Her father is very strict and it took 5 years to convince him to let her play. Aoi lives on the top of a mountain miles away from her new high school but in order to join the tennis club, she travels 15km every day by bike!
On her first day at her new high school she is met with many surprises!
Firstly her seat neighbour turns out to be Takeru-Kun! He's given up on tennis after a bad leg injury and immediately dislike Aoi for talking so much about tennis.
Then she's told that the tennis club actually disbanded last year and there's no longer a tennis club! Aoi is distraught but she's unwilling to give up, so she cleans up the courts single handedly and begins the process to re-establishing the club!
Although Takeru-Kun called her annoying and ugly, after seeing all the work she's done and how terrible she is at practising alone, he agrees to become her temporary coach until she gain enough members.
I was really happy when it turned out she could actually play and was getting better every day! I've read alot of manga similar to this but so often it's the men that are great and the woman just fumble around but have the enthusiasm, like the manga S.P.Y which is just the same story but with swimming but she sucks and never actually get much better....
Aoi is the kind of female character I really enjoy reading about. She's strong, determined, kind, friendly and actually has talent! I like manga that highlight the best in woman!
There's a romance brewing between Aoi and Takeru-kun but it's subtle and it's never distracts her from tennis, another thing I like as often the girls become useless as soon as a crush appears, overthinking to the MAX!
Over all fun to read, lovely drawn and actually motivated me to do some exercise which is a miracle!
Think we as woman should all work a little harder to prove to the world how much better we are than men.... Yup that's what I'm gonna leave with! ^___^
